Ingredients
- 8–10 dried bay leaves
- 4 cups (1 liter) of water
Instructions
- Pour the water into a medium saucepan.
- Add the dried bay leaves.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15–20 minutes.
- Carefully place the saucepan in a safe area and allow the steam to circulate throughout the room for about 30–60 minutes.
- Open a window slightly if needed for ventilation after use.
Note
Boiling bay leaves can create a pleasant herbal aroma that many people enjoy. While some people believe it may help discourage certain insects, there is no strong scientific evidence that it will reliably eliminate flies, mosquitoes, or cockroaches. For persistent pest problems, proven pest-control methods are more effective.
